Swollen Feet During Pregnancy
While woman is carrying a baby, sometimes she can experience swelling of her feet, ankles and knees. This reaction is called “edema” and is nothing unusual in the final phase of pregnancy. It is known as common in case of carrying twins, as well as in the summer when it comes to specific period of the year. This condition usually appears in the evening or late in the afternoon and may stop in the morning.
Swollen feet are just the way your body behaves in pregnancy. Baby in your stomach is making pressure to your blood system and other liquids, too. The pressure is present in your whole body, which is why liquids in your organism do not circulate easily as before. If you notice some other symptoms such are swelling of your hands, face or puffiness around eyes,
immediately make appointment at your doctor’s, because you might have blood pressure problems which can cause further complications to your health.

You should rest as often as you can, wear comfortable shoes and drink a lot of water. Water intake is highly recommended because it fastens your metabolism and minimizes toxins from your system. You should hold your legs up on furniture whenever you can.
Do exercises with your ankles, stretch them, do some swimming. Wear elastic stockings or use cream for enlarged veins. Maybe your shoes are not cozy and comfortable enough, so make sure those are suitable, too.
When you give birth to your child, all this symptoms will disappear so you won’t have to worry about swollen feet anymore. As you begin to lose weight swollen feeling will withdraw and you will feel better.
Breastfeeding is also benefiting that condition, because it extracts fluids from your body through milk. Walking is also very helpful.
Make sure not to sit or lie down for a long time, but try to be active as much as possible. It is not recommended to use diuretics without consulting the doctor.
